The drovers had to overcome the problem of the long journey such as a sufficient food for the cattle. He had to rely on the food they found along the way. Besides, he need to redirecting the cattle along the right tracks and make sure they did not feed on the private land. He had to be on look-out for the farm he will pass and warn the farmer earlier. Sometimes, they also have a problem when farmer’s cattle mixed with his cattle. In addition, cattle are easily frightened by sudden loud noises which make this dangerous for the drovers. He also has to cope with bands of robbers who might attack him for his money or drive some of his cattle. To overcome this, he had to have an intimate knowledge of the temperament of his animals in order to judge how far and how fast to drive them. They must not be overdriven and need rest sufficiently.
